IKER
BA (Hons) in Drama, University of Kent at Canterbury, Iker has developed his career in Cinema, Television and, specially, in Theatre, working as an actor, director and playwright.
After studying acting in Madrid, Paris and New York, Iker founds ORTZAI Laboratory for the Dramatic Arts in Vitoria Gasteiz in 2005. Since then, he directs its professional Dance Theatre Company, having toured worldwide thanks to the invitation of some most prestigious international institutions and promoters (France, Greece, Finland, Cuba, Argentina, Puerto Rico, United States of America, Italy…)
Oscar Wilde´s “De Profundis” and “So now?”, written by himself, were the two first Theatre works bringing Iker Ortiz de Zarate international attention and acknowlegement. But his career includes many other titles, such as “Vittoria”, written by himself, Wilde´s “Salome”, Voltaire´s “Candide”, Sade´s “Justine”, Beaumarchais´ “The marriages of Figaro”, Shakespeare´s “Antony and Cleopatra”, Henry James´ “The Turn of the Screw”, “The Hazardous Deeds of Two Wicked Whores”, written by himself, “One Land Many Faces” by Borbala Sebok, Jean Bofane, Dan Friedman and Kim Kwang Lim, Carlo Gozzi´s “The Green Bird”, Tomaso Thellung de Courtelary´s “Esposti a Tutto”, Jean Anouilh´s “Becket or the Honour of God”, Jean Giraudoux´s “The Madwoman of Chaillot”…

Iker makes his debut in cinema as the main male character of Michael Winterbottom´s film, produced by Alan Horrox for Thames, “Under the Sun” (1991). Afterwards he would play different roles in movies like Carlos Saura´s “Taxi” and “Pajarico”.
Iker makes his debut in television playing one of the main characters of BBC´s “Eldorado”. Afterwards he would also play one of the main characters of Channel Four´s “Basque Adventures” (BAFTA nominee for Best Educative Series Award), playing different roles in series such as “Hospital Central”, “Señorío de Larrea” or “Calle Nueva”.

Strongly thrown into teaching, Iker developed and registered his own system to train actors, dancers and musicians, Neumokinesia.
Iker has taught this acting technique worlwide -New York, London, Varkaus (Finland), Rome, Sifnos (Greece), Humacao (Puerto Rico), Buenos Aires, Havana…-, also invited by some most pretigious international institutions.
